Merafield Bridge had spanned the A38 main expressway into Cornwall near Plymouth. Over 250 holes were drilled and packed with explosives to bring the bridge to the ground for further breaking and removal. Fifteen heavy demolition excavators and over five hundred movements saw the removal of the debris to allow the highway to re-open the following day.
